Cricket and Declare Yourself are bringing an original copy of the Declaration of Independence to Cricket markets across the U.S. with The Cricket Wireless Declaration Road Trip 2008. The tour will showcase one of the 25 remaining original copies of the Declaration of Independence created on the evening of July 4, 1776, a symbol of democracy that is just as powerful more than 200 years after its creation. As part of an effort to educate America's youth about the importance of voting, The Cricket Wireless Declaration Road Trip 2008 provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view this remarkable document and learn about its historical significance and contemporary relevance. This historic document, the only copy touring the country, belongs to Declare Yourself founder, Hollywood producer Norman Lear. Lear purchased the Declaration of Independence at auction after it was discovered in 1989 hidden behind a framed painting purchased at a flea market.
